videoSaying "ham." Other recent additons to the repertoire: she says Apple for apples and tomatoes, Onion for, of course, onions, Pop for snap crackle and pop (AKA Krispies, still one of her favorite foods), Moo for cows, and she calls the dog who visits us Bobby (her father calls him Bonzer). Her current favorite book: Big Dog, Little Dog by P.D. Eastman. Especially exciting for some reason is the page where the dogs say, "My bed is too little!"/"My bed is too big!" "What can we do about it, Ted?"/"I don't know, Fred!" This is acted out with inimitable dramatic intensity-- really, sometimes she actually shakes. Oh, and she seems to think fish make a noise similar to pigs. Not sure where that idea came from.

Well, in a quick effort to catch up a bit, this is a swan that bit the hell out of Susannah's fingers a few weeks back (about two minutes pre-incident). They may be scenic and all that, but those things are vicious:And then these are from one of those evening trips to the beach on a halfway decent day. M insisted it was "too cold" to take off her shoes and socks for wading, then proceeded to let her splash through the water for twenty minutes and get her shoes AND clothes soaked almost up to the waist. I know now just to sigh at these things. And take pictures.

These were taken maybe a week ago, when the weather was (miraculously) pretty nice. She was slightly alarmed at how the wind had blown over and cracked a lot of the daffodils off at the stem, until she realized that that meant we could take them inside and stick them in a jar of water for her to look at in the kitchen. She likes to point at them and make sniffing noises, pretending to smell them. (Now she's getting worried because her flowers in the jar are looking all old and dry, but I'm sure the wind will have provided her with a bunch more of them after today.)
